For hardware replacement instructions find “Removing and replacing a FRU” chapter. Maybe the image is on the screen but it’s very dim. Look very closely at different angles, you even can use a flashlight. https://www.becompta.be/emploi/bosch-pst-650-user-manual If you can see a very faint image then most likely you have a faulty screen inverter. Last week I created a guide for replacing inverter board on an IBM notebook. Try again after you reseated the drive. You can test the hard drive with Hitachi’s drive fitness test. Download this utility and run an advanced test, see if tit can find any problem with the drive. On the start it shows error 8611. Then I press “Esc” computer restart and then I press “F1” and it boots normally. But it is very slow to repeat this procedure every time I when start the laptop. I can’t download Hardware Maintenance Manual for ThinkPad 600 from the link above. Can you tell me what error 8611 is and how can be repaired. Thanks, Branislav Default is AHCI Change this to “Compatibility” save and exit. OS setup will now be able to find the controller and hard disk without issue. Anyways, I downloaded the HMM and searched it by 8611, I found some information on the page62. Here’s a quote from the HMM: I just disable the Track Point in CMOS and everything is working perfectly. I heard it’s common The Network “card” is not working. I purchased a docking station to bypass the RJ45 and had the same problem. LED will illuminate, but does not connect. I suspect this is a common issue as I’ve seen a few R40s listed on ebay with the condition. Is it repairable (by me). What chip do I need and where is it located on the motherboard? I gues it is VGA chip problem. I tryed to resolder BGA VGA board.I will try again to resolder that BGA.I will let you know.I tought that it is a memory chip problem.HP’s are showing this issue on a ton of models and Hynix and Samsung EOL’d the components. (Think they found a major issue and shut them down). Many times the RAM will fail even if its mounted on top of the GPU its self which in my opinion rules out board distortion, As the GPU would have to warp from the board and in turn warp the RAM wafers. There is 2 connections that come from te screen that need connecting. http://groupepse-cabinet-recouvrement-affacturage-assurancecredit.com/images/c910-manual-control.pdf I see where one os placed but there is another one that i dont see where to connet it.These are wireless card antennas, route these wires so they go to the wireless card and then connect them to the card. White cable to the main connector and the black one to the auxiliary connector. I have a tpad R40 that will run from the battery but will not show any AC when plugged in. It is not a AC adaptor problem as I have 2 adaptors and they both are the same problem. If I wiggle the connector a lot it will flash the AC light on the laptop. Pretty sure I am on the right track here just need some confirmation. The connector looks like a real bugger to remove and replace. I have an IBM thinkpad 390E Does the screen changes color at all. Can you see any dim image on the screen or it’s completely “dead”. Did you try starting the laptop with an external monitor attached. Can you get any image on the external screen? It is possible that you have a bad battery but I doubt that it is somehow related to the Window reinstallation. Try this. Unplug the AC adapter. Remove the battery. Wait for 1-2 minutes and try starting the laptop from the battery again. I think they could be similar to your ThinkPad 760. Here are numeric error codes and possible solutions of this problem. If not, then it’s either a bad AC adapter or there is something wrong with the motherboard. You can test the AC adapter with a voltmeter. If the AC adapter outputs correct voltage, most likely your have a motherboard problem. This problem was occur due to drop glass of juice on my laptop If not, then it damaged the motherboard. The only way to find out what is wrong is to remove the keyboard and take a look at the motherboard. I press on the ATI chip but it won’t boot, so not sure if its the same issue or not. Pete The battery will not charge only in Windows or it will not charge even with the laptop turned off. http://www.theagentpipeline.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1629be04280110---cp-x505-manual.pdf The battery plugs directly into the system board, so it’s either a faulty battery or there is something wrong with the motherboard. Replace the battery first. Seems that many IBM’s suffer this problem, mine is 20 days out of warranty, these things are a total waste of money. Anyone have any idea’s how to fix it: I have replaced the LCD display and inverter what else could be the problem. Thanks for your help!! When i power the laptop on im getting a sequences of beeps 3-1-4-3 and nothing appearing on the screen. Ive read something about 11 beeps and reseating the Cache Memorey Chips but i cant find them. I have replaced the LCD display and inverter what else could be the problem? Try tapping on the switch, it might help to release the switch and turn on the backlight. The BIOS is likely reporting a processor error. I have two T43’s that are doing the same thing, and only recently. I’ll test with a new CPU and report my findings. Do I have to remove LCD screen in order to remove system board. Please help if someone know about it. Thanks. You don’t have to remove the LCD screen from the display assembly, but you have to remove the whole display assembly. When I start my laptop the battery light was working and the backlight but there nothing on my screen. I have changed the inverter board but the problem is still the same. It suffered a spill of liquid and now it doesn’t turn on. I thinks that is a problem with the motherboard, but I don’t know what. All other pieces are functional (tested on another laptop). But I don’t know if I have to replace a chip or something. Can you help me? Regards! It only happens when I put pressure on the left side of the unit. Example: typing with a little pressure if my palm (hands) lean on the left side and then it will flicker then freeze. www.bascoy.com/userfiles/files/737-pic-manual.pdf I tried replacing the battery, checked the LCD (ok), Keyboard (ok), AC adapter (ok), and even had a PC repair shop look at it but the tech was a little hesitant to open it up because he stated that it would be a 3 hour job. The repair joint is one of those small overnight clueless wanna be Tech PC reapir shops. He told me any other repair place would immediately without second guessing that my motherboard is bad. Does anyone have any idea or feedback regarding my situation. I’m almost ready to take it apart on my own, but I’m affraid to damage it more. It’s likely that this is memory related issue. Maybe the memory module (modules) is not making a good contact with the motherboard or maybe one of the memory slots is faulty. Both memory slots are located on the left side of the motherboard. You can access one slot from the bottom of the laptop and another one you’ll find under the keyboard. Try reseating both memory modules (if you have two installed). Move them from one slot to another. Test the laptop with only one module installed into different slots. For example, if the memory slot under the keyboard is bad, you still can use the laptop with one memory module installed into the slot on the bottom. For this test you’ll have to remove the keyboard, it’s not difficult at all. You’ll find step by step instructions in the maintenance manual. I would disconnect the video cable from the motherboard and test the laptop with an external monitor. If the laptop still freezes even without the LCD attached, then this problem is related to something on the motherboard and not related to the LCD or video cable connection issue. I doubt that this is related to the connection between the video cable and the motherboard. Even though the video cable connector is located on the left side of the motherboard, it’s on opposite side from the palmrest and located close to the left hinge. But still worth trying. https://www.hotel-margherita.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1629be07282109---cp-x380-manual.pdf Unfortunately I cannot give you more accurate diagnostics without looking at the laptop. It resolved the 3-1-4-3 issue without having to replace anything else. I had a 3rd one like this today. I have replaced the systemboard, but now don’t seem to be able to boot it up. When I switch it on the fan start and the battery and circle with a z in light up but it doen’t engage the hdd to boot. I can get it to boot if I lift the keyboard and press on the palm rest connecter, however if I take the pressue of this it freezes or if it get moved at all it freezies. I am guessing a connect but have double checked everything. Any ideas?? Can anybody kindly help me to solve my problem? When I start my computer it load the Window XP as normal. I restarted my laptop and this time the desktop window comes up but my Processing icon is still working at overdrive when no application are running. When I open one application, it takes a long time to open. Also after several minutes, my screen goes blank again but the processing icon still at overdrive. I have a 1 GB RAM and 2.00 Mhz Processor and this is the first time I am experiencing this. Before everything was working fine and quickly. Any Ideas? Try ending the process and see if it helps. Maybe this application has to be reinstalled. Also, I would run diagnostics test on the hard drive. You can use Hitachi’s drive fitness test, you’ll find link to this utility in Resources. It’s possible that the hard drive is failing. Thank,Anatoly. Once powered on, lights will flash, fan starts, but no picture. Removing RAM will beep (as expected), but removing CPU will have no effect.Test the laptop with an external screen. Do you get video on the external screen? I took it apart and am letting dry even more. Is this a bad sign? Am I fried? Is there any chance of it surviving? Thanks, C After that you have a slight chance that the laptop will work. After the liquid spill the first thing what you have to do is: 1. unplug the AC adapter 2. https://nicemexico.net/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1629be07b278ac---Cp-x605-manual.pdf remove the battery 3. turn the laptop upside down 4. disassemble and clean the laptop 5. let it dry for a few days Only after that you can try turning it on. Is there a way i can fix this problem. Then it’s either bad memory stick or system board problem. Try reseating the memory module, move it to the empty slot. By the way, you can find beep symptoms in the laptop HMM on the page 54. I have changed the hard drive and does not make a difference. Can someone help me please. If not, apparently the hard drive is bad and has to be replaced. Can someone please help. Should I repair the backlight or is it something else? Can this be fixed? Also my keys don’t always capture and I spend alot of time backing up to add letters, they all seem to vary. Can you help or refer me for assistance. Sincerely, Frustrated Reseating the video cable connectors can help to fix this problem. 2. The inverter board is going bad. Try replacing inverter. 3. The backlight lamp is dying. Can this be fixed? Did you test your laptop with an external monitor. The external video is fine or it’s getting fuzzy the same way as video on the internal LCD screen. If external video works fine and this problem appears only on the internal LCD, apparently you have a problem with the LCD screen and it has to be replaced. Pls does someone have any ideas??? i know its an old laptop, but my gf uses it for the internet. Try reseating memory. I did install windows on it but I could really use a drivers recovery CD. I can download the drivers form the lenovo site but it’s not working out, if anyone has one they can make an image of and send my way or if they can burn me one and mail it my way, I’d pay, I’m tryign to get this going for someone and am about out of time and well beyond out of patience. If the display does not return I can move the top around until the displays returns. You can try reconnecting the cable on the back of the LCD screen but it means you have to disassemble the display panel. familybuildersconstruction.com/home/apf/public_html/ckfinder/userfiles/files/737-pic-manual-pdf Also, try reconnecting cable on the inverter board. It also do not have Window XP, operating system software. It has a 20 gigabyte hard drive and the battery do not hold a charge. Re-installing those software, it that something I can do, or do I need to have a professional do it, and is it worth the while? It also do not have Window XP, operating system software. Re-installing those software, it that something I can do, or do I need to have a professional do it, and is it worth the while? I believe you can access the recovery interface by pressing F11 key as soon as IBM logo appears on the screen. It’s possible the hidden recovery partition is still on the hard drive and you can reinstall Windows from there. If the recovery partition was deleted, you’ll have to find recovery discs for your laptop or install generic copy of XP and then download missing drivers from the IBM (Lenovo) website. Try reseating the memory module. Try moving it into the empty slot. Try replacing the memory module with another working module. The keys were getting a little sticky so I wiped them down (using very little water). When I try to turn it back on, nothing happens. I tried when it’s connected to the wall and when it’s unplugged. When it’s connected, the battery icon and the plug icon are lit, but when I unplug it, no lights. I used very little water and only on the keys. Maybe by accident I pressed a combination of keys that messed it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Every time I start the laptop it prompts for a password with the lock symbol.Jawed-India Can you boot to the IBM logo. Try reseating memory and moving it from one slot to another. Try replacing the memory module with a known good module. Could be bad memory. If the laptop is barely bumped or moved then the screen will flicker and freeze. I get a blue screen error with ati memory dump. Any suggestions? Thank you Find out if the voltage is correct. If the power adapter outputs correct voltage, try starting the laptop from the adapter with the battery removed. If the laptop will not start, apparently you have a problem with the motherboard. Battery is fine, power cable is fine- i tried removing the hdd and optical drives, modem and wifi cards but no luck of getting the laptop work, any idea.I have formated the hard drive and was preparing to put os system on Battery is fine, power cable is fine- i tried removing the hdd and optical drives, modem and wifi cards but no luck of getting the laptop work, any idea.I’ve seen very few failed CPUs in four years. Most likely it’s bad motherboard. I just did and it works fine for me. Just connect an external monitor and turn on the laptop. The LCD power isint there too. What can i do to fix it?CAN anyone help me? Test the power adapter with a voltmeter. After that try disconnecting the laptop LCD screen from the motherboard and test your laptop with an external monitor. If the external monitor is not working even with the internal LCD unplugged, probably it’s bad motherboard. All i did was shut it down and place on the the floor! Once the process was complete, my screen went blank and the systme gives out continuous beeps. Help!! I guess you’ll have to replace the motherboard. Please help. I am about to buy a new laptop because I am tired of working on the laptop keyboard all day. Tease it with a screwdriver to see if the LCD comes on. It is located above the keyboard on the back access panel. Not installing antivirus and other softwares. Repair operating system with out earsing data which key have to press. Full reinstall which key have to press and what are the things to be done. It does not boot up by first start up ( the monitor stay dark). Please help me I’m half computer savvy and to be honest reckon it’d be cheaper buying another off ebay over getting somebody else to solder it. I tried to take it to technicians and to every ones shock, there was a hard kind of box cut paper put on above the processor fan.Ask your technician to install a known good memory module first. Make sure he tries both memory slots. If it doesn’t help, apparently it’s bad motherboard. I don’t think that the laptop would give you any error message (beeping sound) with a bad CPU. Try booting your laptop with an external monitor. If the external monitor works fine and the problem appear only on the laptop screen, it’s possible you have bad LCD screen or video cable. If both screens, the internal LCD and external monitor have garbled video, it’s a problem with the video card. Most likely the video chip is integrated into the motherboard (it’s not on a discrete card) and you cannot replace it. You’ll have to replace the whole motherboard. When it’s turned off, the light is on (as if it’s charging), and the back of the laptop emits a squeaking sound but light, must be very quiet to hear. Fixing laptop backlight problem. If the laptop is working fine except the battery charge LED, maybe there is something wrong with the inverter. Just a guess. When I removed the power supply and rebooted it. it worked. But as soon as I connect it with Adapter it got shut down and the same problem persists as earlier. Could be bad adapter or motherboard problem. Will it boot to the desktop? How I enter the BIOS mood.I am somewhat electronically savvy and own appropriate ESD equipment such as a desk mat and wrist strap. Recently I bought a replacement DC power jack which is a pretty straight-forward affair: square cube with female screw hole and power cable with Molex-type plug for the inverter. I have downloaded the Feb 2006 IBM Maintenance Manual but, other than it showing the location of the DC jack it provides no guidance as to what procedure I should use for disassembling the laptop. It is specific about most of the internals but the closest reference is the procedure for replacement of the inverter. Can you recommend what specific subsection I need to be using for instructions from the HMM that will enable me to replace the DC power jack. Thanks a million ! IBM screen comes up with F1 and F12 choices, but goes nowhere. If I choose F12 for choosing startup drive, and choose CDROM, the computer will boot just fine to Windows XP, and works fine from that point on. I loaded a new BIOS from Lenovo hoping this would help, but the problem persists. Any ideas? IBM screen comes up with F1 and F12 choices, but goes nowhere. How I enter the BIOS mood.If you forgot the BIOS password, I’m afraid you’ll have to replace the motherboard. Once connected, the keyboard will type numbers rather than letters for certain keys. It’s a simple fix to correct, but I don’t remember what it is. Any help? I have a 570 and this problem has only recently showed up over the past month and have tried resetting the BIOS and have recently updated the windows security updates. All with no luck. IBM screen comes up with F1 and F12 choices, but goes nowhere. YOUR ANSWER Go to the BIOS setup menu and make sure the hard drive is the first bootable device in the order. If not, make it the first device, save settings and reboot the laptop. Test if it helps. I tried replacing the memory, also did not help. Any other ideas? IBM screen comes up with F1 and F12 choices, but goes nowhere. Maybe it’s a software related. Also, could be a bad hard drive I guess. I have a 570 and this problem has only recently showed up over the past month and have tried resetting the BIOS and have recently updated the windows security updates. Try cleaning the cooing fan and heat sink. Find a can of compressed air and blow it into the fan. This will remove most dust from the cooling module. Test laptop again. Does it help? Once connected, the keyboard will type numbers rather than letters for certain keys. It’s a simple fix to correct, but I don’t remember what it is. Any help? You have to disable NumLk. Hold down the Shift key and at the same time press once on the NumLk key. Done! At the same time press once on the NumLk key. This will disable num lock function. I am getting black and white evenly spaced vertical lines.
