We had the chance to test the UK version of this notebook during hardly a day. Case The HP Mini-Note is just 26.3 cm x 16.6 cm x 2.4 to 5.4 cm small. The weight is, including the provided 6 cells battery just 1445 gramme. This battery clearly projects the back of the notebook and increases the height of the notebook by about 1.5 cm. This improves the ergonomics of typing, because the keyboard inclines to the user, but is not very handy during transportation. If you want to put this notebook into a bag, you have to remove the big battery first. It has to be transported somewhere else. A 3 cells battery, which does not exceed the depth of the notebook, is also available, but, its battery runtime is of course shorter. https://www.alwaysflorida.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1628a35490ad2d---canon-ip1880-service-manual-download.pdf The lid appears to be of high-quality and feels like including aluminium parts. The inside is made of plastics. Still the workmanship is good. The bottom part feels similar to the touch than the plastics used for the EEE series, but its quality seems to be a little poorer. Independent where you pick the notebook up, this notebook neither creaks nor deforms. If you heavily push against the lid, the content of the sensible LCD changes hardly, if at all. The frames around the left and right speakers do not seem to be of high-quality. And the glossy LCD frame is sensitive to unsightly fingerprints when opening or closing the lid. Peripheral Connectivity The interface equipment of the HP Mini-Note 2133 is similar to those of other notebook of this price category. There are a total of two USB ports, a VGA port at the left hand side, and an ExpressCard54 slot at the right hand side. An SD card reader completes the connectivity. Left Side: VGA-Out, USB 2.0, Audio (Headphones, Microphone). Wired data communication is possible via the built-in Gigabit LAN interface, which won't make you want faster connectivity. Mobile phones, PDAs, and other devices can be connected to this HP notebook via Bluetooth. The web cam is appropriate for short video chats. If you do so, one of the two USB ports will be occupied, but you won't need an external power supply for it. It should be the same device also offered for other HP notebooks, e.g., the HP Compaq 2710p. Input Devices Despite the small case of the HP Mini-Note, it still offers a fully-fledged notebook keyboard with 87 keys. Similar to most subnotebooks, the size of the hot keys is rather small. At least the letter keys are 1.7 cm x 1.6 cm big. So, their size is nearly as big as of an ordinary notebook. In this aspect it hardly differs from other subnotebooks with 12 inch display. At the beginning the very short key travel and the imprecise mounting of the keys are odd. AUTOMOVILESMONTES.COM/userfiles/files/command-to-manually-update-group-policy.pdf But, after you got used to them, it is user-friendly to type long documents. It's remarkable, that the reviewed notebook, an international notebook with English keyboard layout, had a big Backspace and a double-spaced enter key. However, multimedia keys are completely missing. They seem to be made of thin plastics, to keep the price of this mini notebook low. The black labels are also not clearly recognizable from the distance. The two touch pad buttons are left and right beside the touch pad. Their travel is rather long, but the feedback good. It's handy that the touch pad can be easily switched off by a small button above it. Touchpad The desktop size is sufficiently big for displaying web sites and applications just like on a 15.4 inch notebook. In return the font is of course clearly smaller. Nevertheless, it is very sharp and well legible. This gets especially apparent if the notebook is turned off. In use this is not that obvious.Horizontally the contrast decreases only slowly and if you look from top down the LCD stays rather well legible. However, looking from bottom up, the picture quality gets quickly too bad. To summarize, the viewing angles of this display are above average and the picture quality is good. After a short time it gets already obvious that it cannot keep up with up-to-date Intel or AMD CPUs. Especially software installations are clearly slower on this pre-installed Windows Vista Business system as on reasonably up-to-date Sempron or Celeron notebooks. The Aero desktop of Windows Vista is no problem for this video chip. However, the performance clearly drops if you activate transparency. Vista runs clearly smoother without these nice optical gimmicks. Due to a big RAM capacity and a really fast hard disk the daily work is trouble-free and relatively fast. It is also no problem to run videos in AVI format on the Mini-Note. However, tasks which require more CPU performance, e.g., picture editing, quickly increase the response time. https://www.carlosfunes.es/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1628a354eec1e2---Canon-ip1800-user-manual.pdf The reviewed notebook required about one and a half minute for booting. According to this test, the weakest component is by far the CPU. It achieves 1.7 points. The hard disk, which is the most powerful component, achieves 5.3 points and the video card 2.9 (desktop performance) respectively 2.5 points (gaming). The hard disk decently rustles, and the fan is not audible most of the time. If you install huge software packages, the fan starts running after a few minutes and keeps running for a longer time. However, its noise won't be recognizable in an open-plan office. At home, you'll hear a silent rustling if you are close to the notebook. And even this is not note-worthy. Even under full load the notebook doesn't get louder than that. Temperature Especially the right under-side of the notebook gets slowly, but steadily warmer. Battery Runtime min. Battery Runtime According to the manufacturer the wattage of the 3 cells battery, which is flush with the case, is 28 watt-hours. We tested the 6 cells battery, which has a wattage of 55 watt-hours, but projects over the backside of the case by about one and a half centimetre. Windows Vista Business run with full load and maximum brightness longer than two and a half hours. The runtime was four and a half hour without WLAN and with minimum brightness. Verdict During the short test time, the HP Mini-Note convinced by some very interesting features. This small notebook provides everything needed for the daily work in a very small place. The main advantages are a nearly fully-fledged keyboard, a good, but, unfortunately reflecting, WXGA display, and possibly a long battery runtime. Due to WLAN interface, Bluetooth, a card reader, and ExpressCard54 slot, and two USB ports also the connectivity leaves hardly anything to be desired. Finally, also the design is elegant and the workmanship and the feel are surprisingly good. But, this notebook comes with two GB RAM and a fast hard disk. https://www.medicalart.com.tr/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1628a355a4b13c---canon-instruction-manuals.pdf As long as you merely want to browse the Internet and write text documents, this equipment should allow a smooth work even under Windows Vista. If any, the high price compared to the EEE-PC and the low calculation performance are disadvantages. Finally, you'll get rather complete full-size notebooks with clearly more performance for the same price. However, these are not that mobile, have likely a lower battery runtime, and are not so cool as the small Mini-Note by HP. It is likely that this notebook will be launched in the German speaking region in autumn. The local prices are unknown at the time of writing. HP Mini-Note 2133 Only standard applications are guaranteed to run smoothly. It is a user-friendly, fully-fledged keyboard, which is appropriate for writing long texts too. However, it is possible to enhance the notebook via ExpressCard slot. This includes two USB 2.0 ports, VGA ports and audio ports. If you handle it, it hardly deflects or creaks. Similar Notebooks. While at first the touchpad was a little stuck, restarting solved the little problem. Although in the beginning you could hear the sound of drums, then do not reproduced sound. Just an update with the manager and reboot for this to be solved (or at least it happened to me, not if related). Everything is working well. The Broadcom Wi Fi appeared to lock up the system when trying to do initial updates. HP is an information technology company headquartered in California. HP manufactures personal computers, printers, and related supplies. HP Mini netbooks contained either a version of Windows 7 Starter, Microsoft Windows XP, or Ubuntu Linux operating system. They do not include CD or DVD drives, like most netbooks. The HP Mini series was announced in 2007 and Mini netbooks were sold from 2008 to 2012. According to an HP Mini laptop review from BestBuy, the Mini’s low prices coincided with their low-end specifications, causing sub-par performance. HP Mini models include the 110, 311, 1000, 2140, and 5103. The HP Mini 1000, in particular, had many known issues, including a power adapter port design defect, a faulty integrated microphone array, and the inability to run certain versions of Windows operating systems. They also include the HP logo in the bottom center of the computer’s display. HP Mini computers include displays between 10 and 12 inches when measured diagonally. These netbooks are generally very light (around three pounds) and are considered ultraportable. Laptop HP Mini Netbooks from BestBuy. It was only 10 months ago when the first true netbook, the original Asus Eee PC 701, hit the market. Today there’s an overwhelming array of low-cost but highly portable and efficient little laptops. Nearly all offer several USB ports, a webcam, LED backlit screens, integrated speakers, Wi-Fi and more, so there are very few differentiators. You can pick and choose between hard drive-based units or those that offer limited-capacity, Solid State Disk flash modules. Asus offers a simple and effective custom Xandros Linux build, but supports and offers Windows XP as well. Early models use Intel’s Celeron CPU but Asus is transitioning to the newer Intel Atom, which is becoming the de facto netbook standard. And while the Mini-Note comes in a single size, it’s not one size fits all: You can configure the hard drive capacity, processor speed, memory and operating system. SUSE Linux, Windows XP and even Windows Vista Business can be had. Acer includes a lite build of Linpus Linux, which I found to be great for quick, out-of-the-box computing, but most people would be better served with the XP edition. The incremental extra price also includes twice the memory (1 GB vs. 512 MB) and a faster 120 GB hard drive instead of the slower 8 GB of flash memory. Even at this low price, there’s plenty to like about the Aspire One. Only this model and the Acer Aspire One offer a full-sized and correctly placed Right-Shift key, something very important to touch-typists. I personally returned my Acer and ordered a Wind partly for this reason, as well as for the fact that the Wind includes integrated Bluetooth for my wireless mouse. Essentially, these models are very similar to what’s currently available. In fact, there are very few differentiators amongst the crowd. Price is probably the most compelling, followed by the feature set. In my own experience, I’m finding that the Linux implementations are a third factor. While many netbook makers are offering custom Linux builds for simplicity, they have to balance that with the ability for the everyday consumer to add, extend and customize their own experience. Regardless, after using a low-powered computer and just the web for 60 days, I’m convinced that netbooks are well on their way towards becoming personal cloud computers. Iam going into high school and want to know if they are useful. I mean i know that they dont have a very big memory but that is what flash drives are for. So, is internet fast? Meanwhile I am using the Bluetooth 2.1 to connect to Internet via my mobile. They do not obligate you to buy the XP license as other brands witch is good as at least I do not have to take time to uninstall. I totally agree with you Jiri(PS. I never have try a Mac netbook, one friend will buy one next week, once he get it I will post here my review for you) Just as a cautionary voice, do NOT expect to be buying a laptop. It’s more of a laptop-shaped blackberry. Hope this helps! Which one should I get.Bottom line, security is in my own hands. On the other hand, I can strip down Linux to the bare necessities to make it run faster on that same limited hardware. I do run XP at home on one of my computers and it is the most secure machine I have. It is not connected to any network. To run MS Office or any other Windows-only software, the Windows box will be loaded with extra hardware and physically disconnected from any network. I have a HP desktop computer from 7 years ago and it is still lightning fast. It might be a little more expensive, but it’s worth it. For instance, lets just look at the verizon usb727 broadband modem. The modem works right out of the box. There is no need for anti virus software as well which hogs resources on any windows box. Customize to your hearts content with linux. Everything you can do on windows and more. Reviewers must stop discounting the usability of linux. Everyone I have converted to linux from windows has rediscovered the power of their computers and loving it! The ee-pc would be the second netbook. Light, Flash drive, and good battery. Let your heart or your brain decide? If I was to really need to do a LOT I’d add a portable folding USB keyboard and a portable USB mouse and STILL be well under a regular laptop. Get the new 6 cell battery and 160Gig hard drive model. I’d have liked to consider the Wind but it clearly NEEDS the six cell battery and that STILL isn’t available Is it relaible and sturdy? There is a limit to how cheap you can go as the Elonex ONE showed. It would be nice to see this sort of innovation rather than multiple Asus Eee PC carbon copies. Netbooks are certainly on there way to being the most likely choice for computer buyers. We are reviewing a vast number of netbooks every week now at. You will be connected to your office at all times (while that netbook is on), and home. You will be able to make and receive office calls, home calls, and cell calls on one device. I see pop ups for customers, family, and friends. I see docking stations at work and home that allow full sized keyboards, and monitors. We really are not that far off from that now!! Or how do I buy one. SIM card included or do I need to provide my own? Unfortunately it only has 512MB builtin and I haven’t seen an optional 6 cell battery yet. Even the newer models. Not for me. I don’t need high resolution graphics, a large screen, or a magnificent keyboard. I don’t need them to be bulletproof, or support any specific OS. And in my experience, they all fall short of what I need. At the moment I’m happy with my iMate PDA phone, which is way too tiny to use efficiently but at least it lasts through a flight to Europe or at least cross country. I know that battery technology isn’t making the huge leaps and bounds we’ve been hoping for, but the lack of consistent battery life (coupled with maximum RAM limits) have left me unimpressed by the Netbook market. Quando digo multiplos, me refiro a MUITOS.
