There's also never been any guarantee that a given pre-programmed remote will support every new product that comes along. At least two other manufacturers—including Polk Audio and Zvox, whose Z-Base 580 I recently reviewed —offer models that are capable of learning commands from any remote. If that's not enough, the Zvox can also be set up to respond to the volume and mute commands of five leading TV brands simultaneously, some or all of which are virtually guaranteed to be supported by even the meanest pre-programmed TV or STB remote. In a similar vein, Vizio could provide compatibility with the over 14-million FiOS STB remotes currently found in U.S. households simply by enabling its soundbars to respond to Vizio TV commands! https://www.interactivelearnings.com/forum/selenium-using-c/topic/17451/boss-gt-8-manual-german In this case, you would connect the HDMI output from the STB to the HDMI input of the VHT215 and the HDMI output from the soundbar to the HDMI input of the TV. ARC sends the audio back to the soundbar along the HDMI cable from the TV's input, and the volume can be controlled by the TV's own volume commands. And while the soundbar form factor is perfectly logical for its intended application (as Mr. Spock might say), it does demand a lot of acoustic trade-offs and compromises.Having the Vizio in our master bedroom turned the room into a secondary theater, enabling us to enjoy programs there that we might previously have reserved for viewing only in our main downstairs theater. Thanks to the Vizio soundbar, we had no problem understanding all of the diverse and sometimes difficult accents of the huge cast, and John Lunn's sumptuous score worked its magic and swept us away into the show's minutely depicted Edwardian world. It was the single most effective demonstration of virtual surround I've ever heard. It seems I had happened upon a sweet spot in the room, where the VHT215's SRS TruSurround was at its best. In my case, that spot was about four or five feet back, with my ears only a few inches above the speakers' axis. The surround effect was much less dramatic further back in the room, where we usually sit, but the front soundstage still seemed wider than you'd expect. The boom is particularly noticeable on deep male voices, which have an unfortunate tendency to straddle subwoofer crossover points in the 100-150Hz range. In my room, the smoothest blend was achieved when the sub was placed right smack in the middle of the main walkway. That's obviously not going to happen, so I compromised by turning the sub level down, which helped to tame (but not totally eliminate) the boom at the cost of a slight reduction in system's overall low-frequency impact.Imagine how good it could be if only those pesky physical laws could be suspended. http://impressionmexico.com/images/96-chevy-blazer-service-manual.pdf But for now at least, we'll have to leave that to the realm of science fiction. The Vizio VHT215 2.1-channel soundbar delivers good sound that's a significant step up from the feeble audio coming out of the compromised built-in speakers employed in most modern ultra-thin TVs. Its SRS virtual-surround function turned out to be surprisingly effective, too. The wireless subwoofer is easy to use and delivers ample bass, though it can be a struggle to get a natural-sounding match between the sub and the soundbar with this or any other similarly configured system. Setup is quick and painless, with plenty of connection options. The soundbar is particularly easy to wall mount, but I'd check for compatibility with your existing TV or STB remote before drilling any holes. Live long and prosper!I like the review for this one and the Zvox Audio Z-Base 580 Soundbar. Scott recently talked favorably about the AudioSource S3D60 Soundbar on his podcast. How do they compare in sound? Of the Vizio and Zvox, I'm sure reviewer Lawrence Ullman prefers the Zvox, though it's of a different form factor than the Vizio or AudioSource. If you can put your TV on top of the Zvox, it's an excellent choice. I look forward to your podcast and reviews. Current setup: LG 32LE5300, PS3, Sony HT-CT100, Harmony 700 My new HDTV is creating the challenge in a good way; I bought a Panasonic 60ST30 to replace my LG a month ago (based on the reviews here) and love it. The challenge is 3D. I don't think the HT-CT100 will switch 3D content, so I'm looking for a new soundbar. I'm sure any of these sound better than my HT-CT100, but by how much? Not even any trusted online stores. I have looked and tried everyone. This also makes soundbars ideal for pairing with devices for use in a small business setting. Most issues with Vizio soundbars stem from the device they're connected to or are the result of interference from another nearby device or object, but occasionally, the issue can be with the device's hardware. Use troubleshooting to try to fix or reset a Vizio soundbar before reaching out to Vizio support. Tip Don't forget to refer to your Vizio soundbar manual for troubleshooting information specific to your device. Soundbar Won't Turn On Check the Connections Push the connectors on the power cord connecting the Vizio Soundbar to the external device firmly into the AC outlet it's connected to and also to the connecting port on the device. If the device is loosely connected at either end, it may not power on. Try Another Device Connect another device that you know works to the AC outlet the soundbar is connected to. If that device also doesn't work, you likely have an issue with the outlet, such as a blown circuit breaker or a defective outlet. Remove Signal Blockages Move closer to the Vizio soundbar and also remove any objects between the remote control and the soundbar, then try using the remote to power the soundbar on. The remote may not power the soundbar on if it's more than 15 feet away from the device or if there are objects in between the remote and the soundbar. If the device turns on, try replacing the batteries in the remote, as they're likely drained. Tip Make sure your Vizio sound bar remote has fresh batteries. No Audio Check the Volume Turn the volume up on the Vizio soundbar and also ensure the soundbar isn't muted. Check the Audio Settings Check the audio settings on your external device and make sure it's set up to output audio through a connected device. For example, even if the Vizio soundbar is connected properly, if the TV is set up to output through the internal speakers only, no audio will be sent to the soundbar. Static or Buzzing Sound Check the Cables Check that the audio cables connecting the two devices are securely pushed into place. Try a Different Input Connect the connecting cable to a different input on the soundbar. If there's still a static sound, replace the cable, as it may be damaged or defective. Alternatively, if switching the input resolves your problem, the input you were previously connected to on the soundbar may be defective. In this case, contact Vizio support about getting the input fixed. Remove Any Interfering Devices Move devices that send a wireless signal away from the Vizio soundbar, as they can cause this type of interference. Devices that commonly cause interference include baby monitors, wireless routers and cell phones. These codes have been tested with the Comcast remote controls, Verizon Fios, Xfinity X5 remote, Uverse, U-Verse, S10-S3, S10-S4, Atlas 1056B03, etc. If you use Verizon Fios, there is a Key Fix. Some remote codes may not work with certain configurations such as cable TV remote model or sat TV remote. If this is the case, you can program an unsupported device (such as a sound bar) by setting each key individually to send a code. This means each button or key on your remote will need to be programmed for the remote to work. Each remote function works by sending a code to sound bar. This is done by setting AUX to a main device code and then setting things like volume up and down individually. The code 00168 will make the volume go down. The code 00037 will toggle the mute. The code 00165 will turn the power on and off. When you press volume the sound bar will operate, then when you press power everything should power off or on. Good value. You can get a home theater in a box, which means running cables all over your living room. You can set up your own stereo or surround system, which means spending a lot of money in addition to running cables all over your living room. Or you can get a sound bar, which means spending relatively little money and putting a single flat speaker in front of your HDTV. It won't have as much power or sound quite as good as larger, dedicated speaker systems, but it's a good choice if you want to save space and money. It's intended for HDTVs approximately 40 inches or wider; a smaller, 32-inch version is also available, if you have a smaller TV. A blue LED display in the middle shows the volume level and other information, and is usually turned off when in use. The back panel holds two HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, and 3.5mm analog, coaxial, and optical audio inputs recessed and facing down and sideways, and the power connection facing out. Since the cable itself has an L-shaped plug, it can also face down or sideways. Inside, a 6.5-inch long-throw driver pumps out the bass. It comes automatically paired with the soundbar, but it can be paired again using the single Pair button under the subwoofer's power switch and the Input button on the soundbar. It only has a handful of buttons, but they're separated by a pointless sliding section. Closed, the remote has a Power button, a Mute button, and a large pad that double as both volume and playback controls. The sliding section has individual Bass, Treble, and Subwoofer controls. These buttons could easily have been put on the main part of the remote, and the entire device could have been a much smaller membrane remote instead of the bulky slider it is now. That means you can watch and listen to content built into the HDTV, such as from online services or the TV tuner, without running a separate audio cable from the screen to the soundbar. It gets suitably loud for small parties, and while it can't replace a more powerful stereo speaker system, it can come close when space and budget don't support one. Thanks to the wireless subwoofer, it made even cartoons like Regular Show sound epic whenever a scene called for it. Dialogue is clear at both very low and very high volumes, which is important for watching movies. In a rap battle, the bass thumping of the music had force, and the rhymes could be correctly identified as ill. But like most systems that claim to offer that, digital signal processing simply can't deliver the same experience. TruSurround HD mode made the audio sound slightly fuller in the front, but it doesn't come close to reproducing the surround effect with actual speakers behind you.It sounds clear, and its subwoofer packs enough punch to make you feel the action in movies. Its remote is unnecessarily bulky and complex, and its surround sound feature doesn't work as advertised, but the VHT215 is otherwise a very solid upgrade over your HDTV's built-in speakers. I tried the code in the Vizio manual.31517. I tried the other code Direct TV provides.32454. I called Vizio and they gave me a list of codes to try. 10120,10864,10885,01377,11758,11756,10117,10178.none of them have worked. I have tried programming these codes on both AV1 and AV2.neither worked. Anyone have any ideas on a code that will work. Does it matter if you use AV1 or AV2 on the remote to try to program. I have seen on other threads that some folks have been able to pair the soundbar to the Direct TV remote but I don't know if is was the same remote type. The thread says program the TV, the Soundbar, and then 993. The TV is programmed fine and when I hit power it tests fine. I have pressed Mute-Select and then entered the 31517 code for the soundbar.hit power and nothing happens. At this point.after I enter 31517.do I immediately press 993 and then Select. Or, after I enter 31517, do I need to press Mute-Select AGAIN, and then enter 993 and then the select button. Just trying to get the right sequence as I've pressed the power button after entering in the soundbar code and get nothing. Thanks for your help.Move the selector to AV2, Press and hold the mute and select buttons and hold them down for 2 flashes of the green light, takes about 2 seconds, program in the 31517 and wait for 2 more flashes of the green light. With the selector in the same spot, AV2, Press and hold the mute and select buttons and hold them down for 2 flashes of the green light, takes about 2 seconds, program in 993 and wait for 2 flashes of the green light and then press the Select button and the light flashes 2 more times.I also tried the 9913 search method that was posted in another thread and had no luck with that either. If it did not, that code is not in that remote. The reason I ask is that this code only shows up for the RC65 remote. If you go to Walmart and get one and it does not work you can take it back and get your money back vs ordering one from DirecTV. Use this tool and try the RC64, Audio, and type in Vizio ( nothing there ). Do it again and use the RC65 remote and that code is there. On the RC64 remote the code, the 31517 code appears to exist in the R64 remote as the light flashes 2 times indicating the code is in the remote.but nothing works.can't change the volume, can't turn off the power.useless. The 32454 code does not cause the light to flash twice in the R64 remote as it appears that this code is only available in the R65 remote according to the tool that Jimmie57 mentions above. Now, I happen to have a new replacement R65 remote that Direct TV sent me and I just tried the 32454 code in the AV2 position on that remote. The light flashes twice and I tried to turn the power off and it shut off. Then, I hit Mute-Select and entered the 993 code and hit Select.volume worked exactly as it should in the Direct TV mode on the remote and the AV2 mode.and was able to shut the power down to the soundbar in the AV2 mode. Sooooo.it appears the issue is with the R64 remote.at least for me.as I was able to get an R65 remote to work perfectly with the 32454 code. Jimmie, is your remote an R64 or R65. If it's an R64 and you got the 31517 code to work.great.as it did not work for me but perhaps may work for others. But the R65 remote works fine with the 32454 code. Thanks for all your help as the troubleshooting got me to get this working..and I assume you meant to go to Walmart to get a different Direct TV remote to try. Hopefully, the R64 and R65 issue may be cleared up for some now. Each new model has more codes added as they come out. Walmart sells the RC65. I do not have a sound bar. I just read a lot of these posts and try to help others. I have more money in my sound than I do in the TV. LOL Glad you had the RC65 and it worked for you. Thanks for the update.None of the recommend codes work with VHT215 sound bar. Disappointing that it appears I'll have to buy a new remote to get everything working in concert. Hopefully, the R64 and R65 issue may be cleared up for some now.Curious if that has been verified to work.I went bought RC65 direct remot at walmart,Input the codes you suggested inthr AV2 position and it works perfect only one problem,I move the toggle back to the far left where it operated everything except the soundbar. In the AV2 position soundbar yes,,no up or down channels.any suggestions????? pdwill I guess the real question should be,can I actually operate the soundbar in The DTV position along with everything else as I do now without going back and fourth from DTV to AV1.I Have a Samsung tv and the visio soundbar. Entered codes from above. 32454 and then 993. Tried in Aux 1 position and also in Aux 2 position. Tried multiple times with no success.Like 0 0 1 2 Cancel Post Send Feedback Tags No tags available. Photo by Jonas Leupe on Unsplash Is Your Vizio Sound Bar Not Working. A Vizio sound bar can complement an existing surround sound system or replicate one. This article will cover the following: Static Vizio sound bars pack a lot of audio punch into a very small package. Vizio.com Static If your sound bar is producing a static sound, check the following: The connectors on the audio cables you're using must be firmly pushed into both the Vizio sound bar and also the source of the audio. If the connectors aren't pushed all the way in, you'll likely experience some form of unwanted noise coming through the speaker. Replace the cables you're using with different cables to see if that resolves your problem. If the audio plays fine while the cables are connected, the issue is likely with the previous input you were using on the speaker. Sometimes people roll over power cables with chairs, step on them, or rest a desk on them accidentally, all of which can physically harm the cable. If the cable is damaged, you'll need to replace it using any standard 24-volt power cable. Also, position yourself within 15 feet. Outside of the 15-foot range, Vizio doesn't promise the remote control will work. If the sound bar responds, you have an issue with the remote control. However, if it doesn't respond, consider contacting Vizio about your power issue, as it may be the result of damaged or defective internal components. Some other audio types won't play through the sound bar when they're connected via an optical cable. To ensure this isn't the problem, scroll through all of the sound bar's inputs. The settings on the sound bar will be cleared and the device will be restored to its factory settings. While there likely won't be any changes you notice, minor problems can often be resolved by doing this. Answer: Whether this happens when you change an over-the-air channel or cable channel, if the sound work sometimes and not others, I wouldn't consider that an issue with your soundbar, but rather with your TV or cable box. I would recommend trying to connect the soundbar to another TV to see if you run into the same issue. One of them has a disfunctioing sound bar although the bluetooth sw works.
